Outreach Voices: Excitement Is the Tone of a True Activist for Life!

By Ricky Bullock, Campus Outreach Team Member

Hi everyone! My name’s Ricky and I’m the youngest Campus Outreach member.  I came with my brothe,r Bobby, and I am only staying until the 21st of September as I still have school back home. I’ve really enjoyed this whole experience and I love getting the pro-life message out to as many people as possible!

I especially like doing activism at the high schools because we can reach so many people and get our message across really quick.

The high school we went to today didn’t seem very productive for Emily and I, as we were stationed at an exit that didn’t have many students coming out. But about five minutes before we left, two women walked by. Emily tried to hand them our abortion literature hand-out but before she could even ask if they wanted it one of the women said “Don’t even try” as the other said, “You should be ashamed of yourselves”.  We didn’t really get a chance to reply because they just kept walking by very fast.

After that, it was time to pack up. Emily and I were discouraged that we couldn’t have a conversation with the women or even get them to take our information. But as we were driving past the school, we saw the same two women walking on the sidewalk reading our literature! We quickly asked the rest of them Team if they had gotten it from any of them.  They said no.

So we guessed the women must have picked the literature up that maybe  one of the students had thrown away.

It made me very happy to see that even though the women were stubborn to us they were still interested in the truth. Even though I felt like the day was not our best, seeing those women reading our literature made me feel a lot better! And it reminded me that even though we may not change everyone’s mind while we’re talking to them, we are still planting a seed  that will grow and grow until they see the truth about abortion.
