Conrad Brothers Released, Additional Disturbing Details Now Known

· Posted 16/11/07 by Danielle

On Thursday afternoon, Jason and James Conrad were arraigned and released – two days after their arrest at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California. This followed many delays by the District Attorney, including refusal to respond to the Survivors’ attorney’s request for information.

According to our attorney, the Conrad brothers’ charges are now misdemeanors (instead of the felony charge for eavesdropping originally threatened). They are charged with obstructing a police officer and disturbing the peace. It will be interesting to see the D.A.’s evidence of these “crimes” when James and Jason go to trial on November 27.

James and Jason are currently recording statements of their ordeal, and we will incorporate their testimony into a narrative of the entire event. The narrative will be made available as soon as possible.

In addition to the details already known, we have learned that a certain officer in the Chaffey College Police Department was particularly abusive. Identified as Officer Tran, this man was one of the key figures in the arrests at Chaffey. Not only did he engage in verbal abuse against the young men, including mockery of their pro-life beliefs, but he endangered their lives. During the transport of James, Jason, and Joey Cox to jail from Chaffey, Officer Tran instructed the accompanying police officers to leave the three young men without seatbelts in the back seat of the SUV. He also intentionally caused discomfort to them by turning the heat up in the vehicle, and called Joey Cox a “retard”.

Video of the Conrad brothers’ arrests and the following mistreatment can be viewed online . Note the shouting by Jason Conrad in the background as the brothers are escorted into the police station – “you’re choking him!” (referring to his brother James). Additionally, Officer Tran is shown waving James’ cell phone in his face and later looking through the phone

Police brutality sucks. You should sue the officers for assault. Good luck and God bless.

You are our heroes. We thank God for your brave witness to the truth. We pray that justice will be done and the men who broke the law by detaining and brutalizing you will be held accountable.
