Christmas Caroling Kick-off Saves A Baby!

This past Saturday was our kick-off for Christmas Caroling. With adrenaline high, and teens ready to deliver the pro-life message through Christ, we embarked on what was about to be a joyous but persecution-filled day. The first three abortion mills that we visited were oddly closed —praise God! — possibly because they didn’t have enough appointments to even open their doors. Our participants were starting to become disappointed, thinking that they might not be able to deliver baskets to hopeless women, until we arrived at Planned Parenthood Bixby Center in downtown L.A.

When we arrived, we were greeted by our good friend Lucy, a fellow pro-lifer and excellent sidewalk counselor. After about ten minutes of singing a young couple walked out of the abortion mill. The woman, visibly touched by our carols and witness, walked quickly to her car crying, as her boyfriend followed her. One of our Spanish-speaking counselors followed them to give them a gift basket and literature. They told him that they were going to keep their baby. Encouraged by this news, our group sang louder.

Later, we visited the infamous Her Medical Clinic, where we have been caroling for years. Entering Her Medical Clinic, we quickly spread out, delivering baskets to all the women waiting for abortion procedures. Walking around the corner of the waiting room, I found a young woman sitting by herself with her head down. I joined her on the bench and asked why she was there. She shared that she has a two-month old daughter and thinks that she possibly could be pregnant again. I asked what her plan would be if the pregnancy test was positive. She responded that she knew abortion was murder, but that she hoped God would forgive her. I earnestly pleaded for her child’s life. Meanwhile, Jeff White, Founder of Survivors, was waiting at the door where a clinic staff worker was intentionally coughing on him and slamming a metal security door down on his shoulders as he waited for all of us to leave the clinic.

I knew my time with this young woman was growing increasingly short, since the clinic staff’s patience certainly was. Perhaps they didn’t like that we were encouraging the woman to leave. I entered my phone number into her cellphone and pleaded with her to call me if she needed anything or someone to talk to. I quickly left the clinic and rejoined the others waiting outside. We continued singing Christmas carols, while aware of the spiritual warfare that was taking place between our group and the clinic staff. We remained calm and with love sang until it was time to go.

At least one child’s life was saved that day. As for the woman mentioned in this article and many others that we counseled, the fate of their children is unknown. Please pray for them, and pray for us this next Saturday as we faithfully set out again to rescue those unjustly sentenced to death.
