Outreach Voices: You Think You've Seen It All -- But Then A Pink-Haired Lady...
By Mary Rose, Assistant to Director of Campus Outreach
Sometimes I parody pro-aborts. Some of the things they do or say are just so ridiculous that it’s amusing to imagine other things they might do. But sometimes, they’re so far out that you can’t even parody it.
Yesterday a group of college students gasped over our display. When they saw the image of the abortion victim, they exclaimed, “Oh, my gosh! It’s a baby!” “Do you see the baby? That’s terrible!” “That picture of the baby is disgusting!” “Oh, the poor baby!” As they walked on, a tiny, bent old woman came walking the other way. Her hair was neon pink. When she heard the students, she turned to them and croaked: “It’s not a baby, it’s a FETUS. And it’s between a woman and her God!”
The students looked at her incredulously. Then they laughed. “It’s not a fetus, it’s a baby,” someone said, and the rest nodded in agreement as they walked away. Who would believe or listen to a woman not only so obviously disconnected from the generation of child-bearing age, but also so very hard-hearted? It was one of those episodes that you just can’t parody.
